Calibration intervals should move with instrument performance data

AVEX Engineering Team · 1 min read

A fixed calibration interval ignores what the instrument's own history is telling you. Extend or shorten intervals based on drift trends, not a generic default.

Most calibration programs assign intervals by instrument type - a generic default applied uniformly. An instrument's own historical drift data is a far better predictor of how often it actually needs recalibration than a generic policy.

Review interval assignments against each instrument's drift history periodically, extending stable instruments and tightening ones showing trend, instead of leaving every interval at its original default indefinitely.
